DAY 1: headquarters. Bako National Park, Sarawak’s oldest and most renowned national park, spans 2,727 hectares and boasts seven unique ecosystems which includes beach vegetation, cliff vegetation, mangroves, peat swamp forests, mixed dipterocarp forests, heath forests and grasslands. It is also home to breathtaking cliff faces, sandstone structures, sea stacks and pristine sandy beaches, all shaped by ongoing coastline changes due to constant soil erosion. Bako National Park is the ideal introduction to Sarawak’s forests and wildlife, through its diverse ecosystem, extensive jungle trail system, scenic coastline and frequent wildlife sightings. Its uniqueness lies in its proximity to wildlife, where you can often spot proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, and silver leaf monkeys near the park headquarters, while bearded boars, monitor lizards, and various bird species can also be observed. The park’s vast network of 17 interconnected hiking trails provides a range of walking and trekking options. These trails cater to diverse preferences, offering short and easy walks near the park headquarters, as well as full-day jungle hikes, ensuring a different learning experience for each trail. Upon arrival, embark on a trail exploration and wildlife spotting alongside your guide. Enjoy lunch at the park canteen, then resume your exploration of Bako. After dinner, proceed for a night walk illuminated by torchlight.

DAY 2: After breakfast, set out on a trail hike to spot rare migratory birds, langurs, reptiles, proboscis monkeys, and various plant species. Enjoy lunch at the park before returning to Kuching by mid-afternoon.
