DAY 1: Embark on an Iban longhouse safari with a hotel pick-up for a scenic 5-hour drive through Sarawak’s lush countryside, passing vegetable farms, padi fields, and thriving cash crop plantations like rubber, pepper, and oil palm. A brief stop in Serian offers a glimpse of the local wet market, where jungle produce is displayed on vibrant mats. Next, enjoy lunch at Lachau, a “cowboy” town known for its tribal bartering and trade. Afterward, travel to Batang Ai Dam and take a 30-minute longboat ride across the lake to reach a hillside Iban longhouse. Mingle with the locals, share in their daily life, and enjoy a traditional dinner of local cuisine. In the evening, join in the communal celebrations with music, dance, and tuak, a locally brewed rice wine. Overnight in the guesthouse, immersed in Iban culture.

DAY 2: After breakfast, join in an engaging demonstration of “cock fighting” and blowpipe traditions. You can also embark on a guided jungle trek, gaining insights into the plants and animals significant to the local culture and way of life. Depart from the longhouse around mid-morning then proceed overland towards Kuching, stopping for a fulfilling lunch at Lachau town.
